Hands on with DJI's better, faster $3,000 Inspire 2 drone

Compared to the company's  Phantom line  and new  Mavic Pro , though, its tech is showing its age. That changes now. The Inspire 2 looks essentially the same as the first-gen model, but this time it's made from magnesium-aluminum alloy, which DJI says increases stiffness to help flying while reducing weight. The weight reduction is mainly just to increase battery life -- while it's easy enough to pick up, it's really designed to be transported in a flight case, probably in the back of a car. You might have noticed in the picture above that it has dual sensors in front for obstacle avoidance (there's a set on the bottom as well), but it also has infrared sensors on...

UVify's racing drone can reach speeds of 100 mph

Uvify UVify is showing off its new racing  drone  this week at the  CES  trade show in  Las Vegas. The Draco modular drone is easy to repair, lightweight and lightning-fast . UVify claims it  can reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour. The drone features a protective carbon-fiber shell. If it does get damaged,  the modular design allows you to quickly swap out the propellers and appendages.  The Draco, which UVify is advertising as ready-to-fly out of the box,  is also capable of performing 360-degree flips and other stunts,  which can be captured on the built-in camera. The Draco racing drone is available now for preorder for $500 (coverted to roughly £407 or AU$685). A second model with a high definition camera (an upgrade from analog) can be had for $600.

No, the A5 is more concerned about accessorizing. Following the lead of the  Moto Z  phones, the A5 brings three modular accessories that expand how you can use the phone. There's an audio speaker, a battery pack that doubles its life and a case that will, ahem, light up your life. Snap it on and program the LEDs covering the back to light up when you get a notification, modulate with music, or sync to the sound of your voice. After apologizing to fans yet again for its disastrous drama of  recalling 3 million fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 phones , Samsung capped the night (the launch of a different pair of devices) by teasing the Galaxy S8  design and announcement date  in a video. Launching a safe, buyable Galaxy S8 is the South Korean company's chance to get its phone business back on track, and to pick up momentum from a giant mobile show where Samsung characteristically launches its Galaxy S phones. Instead, we saw pressure from LG, Huawei and BlackBerry, the last of these in a  comeback bid . Although  Samsung's profits are soaring  on the strength of its chips as well as S7 and S7 Edge phone sales, it will still need to make up the $5 billion it lost on the Note 7 -- and that's not counting any  impending lawsuits .
